Swift birds at the park

Every summer around sunset Northwests Vaux Swift birds can be found circling and flying atop the chimney of Chapman's Elementary School in NW 'Trendy Third'. Every evening in September into early October, you can see 20,000 -40,000 birds flying and diving into the chimney. As October approaches and the cool weather comes - the birds will continue on their journey to Mexico and S. America. What a sight to see all of these birds come from afar and meet up with other swifts near the chimney and begin their circling and flying in what 'appears' to be a funnel or tornado of birds. As the evening grows darker - all of the birds fly down into the chimney to sleep for the night.
Mom and I went this evening to check out while dad was working on his project at home (one of many I should say). It was so exciting seeing all of the birds. We may even have to go back one more time with dad for a nice sun set evening of watching the birds and if not I guess we'll go next year when they return.
