I'll update the post and include a bit more writing soon. it was a great trip - so many more reasons to be thankful for what we have and we should all be more thankful!
A few of my favorite parts of the trip were the children - they were so cute and very well mannered. When the girls would come to shake your hand they bent down on one leg and did this curtsy move... Too cute. Another highlight was meeting 3 guys from Australia, a couple from Colorado and a gal also from Portland but is living in Uganda for work. They all helped with the race and were such good people to work with. It was great to have everyone come together without any complaints and help with making the things happen not only for the race but other things as well.
Kampala is the big city just outside of where the airport was. It's a big dirty city with lots and lots of people walking, biking, motorcycles (boadas) and cars/taxis with so many people packed in to the taxis.
6 hour drive took us to the village if Lira where we stayed for 10 days. The race and the other village we visited was Utuba - much smaller village.
